Midface Filler
The purpose of midface filling is to provide more support to the malar region of the face, commonly known as the midface, and give a more youthful appearance. Midface filling is used to non-surgically correct facial volume in patients in the early stages of midface lifting. It addresses malar insufficiency following midface lifting surgery.
The nasolabial fold, often referred to as the smile line, is a line that extends from the corner of the mouth to the base of the nose. Midface filling helps create a triangular shape in the face and contributes to a more youthful appearance.
If You Get Midface Filling, Is There Need for Intervention in Other Areas?
When midface sagging is corrected, it also reduces the depth of the under-eye hollow and nasolabial fold. However, addressing midface sagging alone may not always be sufficient, and you may need to use fillers to treat other areas as well.
What Is Used for Midface Filling?
Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are used for midface sagging treatment. Because the application occurs in the deep tissue of the midface, larger molecules with a higher degree of cross-linking are preferred. These types of fillers are used to address midface sagging.
How Is Midface Filling Done?
Initially, when a patient visits a clinic, a volume measurement is taken, and the areas that need filling are identified. Before filler application, a numbing cream is applied to the area so that the patient doesn't feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.
